I invoke the One who fulfils the wishes of His devotees,
Whose thrilling anklets produce melodious sounds;
He who approaches me in loving and graceful steps.
He who is known as the Rider of the peacock,
O’ Skanda, God of War,
Protect me with your Vel (your spear).
Protect me from my own demons…
May the Devas of all the eight directions pay Their obeisance to You,
Wielder of the mighty Vel,
I welcome You, O’ Karthikeya,
You who are six-faced,
Whose forehead is adorned with sacred ash,
Bless me, bless me, bless me…
Salutations to you O’ Saravanabhava,
The Lord of Abundance and Sacred Offerings,
Bestow upon me the courage to see the good in all, the wisdom to live in the now and the strength to forgive myself, as I hurdle past my shortcomings…
Obeisance to you O’ Karthikeya
The brave War Lord of the Devas in Their battle against the Asuras (demons),
Adorn me with Your brilliance in overcoming the strife of daily living.
Bless me with the power to live in gratitude of everything I have…
You who assumed Lordship over me, O’ Karthikeya,
Your twelve hands hold twelve weapons, the twelve ‘Paasa’ (hook) and the ‘Ankusamum,’ (noose),
Help me shed the weight of my ignorance while bestowing upon me the wisdom to prevail in my nothingness…
With Your twelve wide-opened, brilliant eyes, cast Your protecting glance upon me O Lord, and grant me the grace of Your protection.
Grant me the freedom in living free from dis-ease and illnesses,
Freedom from grudge to love,
Freedom from despair to faith,
Freedom from disbelief to trust…
O Lord of the Kundalini Sakthi, son of Shiva, and Indweller of my heart, protect me from my evil thoughts, from my straying mind and from my vacant intentions.
Bestow upon me Your grace and Your benevolence that I might relinquish my ego and my ignorance.
Let me become pure again, free from sufferring, illness and strife. Allow me to surrender my body at Your feet, and to remind myself that my body is your body, free from all human suffering.
Remind me that as I discover me, I find You and in finding You, I AM FREE!
Praise be to You O’ Karthikeya!
