Wearing a ‘chandra,’ or half moon on Her forehead in the shape of a ‘ghanta,’ or bell, Goddess Chandraghanta is forceful in a graceful manner.
In meditation, as soon as the sadhak (disciple), invokes Her, Her bell immediately becomes active and starts ringing to protect the devotee under Her shelter. The crescent moon is symbolic of feminine energy and is also associated with clairvoyance and knowing without thinking. The crescent moon also represents illumination, new beginnings and making dreams a reality. It is connected to rebirths and how our true essence really is immortal – this is why she is called ‘Chandraghanta.’ Her ornaments are rich and signify material comfort.
Anyone who worships Goddess Chandraghanta, attains spiritual bliss. She is easily pleased with devotees who worship Her with full devotion and dedication for which, She offers boons of fame and glory. It is also belueved that the home where She is worshipped becomes holy and pure.
Who is Goddess Chandraghanta?
Goddess Chandraghanta is the holder of potent energy that is yet to be unleashed. She claims Manipura (Solar Plexus) Chakra as Her own. This Chakra is influenced by the planet Mars. This is symbolized by a lotus with ten petals, this chakra is also known as the ‘nabhi,’ or navel chakra. On this day, while worshipping Goddess Chandraganta, yogis and practitioner of Tantra, meditate while concentrating on the Manipura Chakra and with the grace of Mother Chandraganta, mysteries and divine things can be seen and heard.
The position of the Solar Plexus Chakra is best described as four fingerbreadths above the navel. This chakra is where your power and self-confidence manifests.
What is “Manipura”?
“Manipura,” means a lustrous gem. The jewel or qualities associated with this chakra strengthen the digestive system and the diaphragm. The Solar Plexus focuses on the power and autonomy of metabolism. The element for the Solar Plexus is fire. Activating the fire within moderate body temperature helps in food digestion. It is represented by the colour yellow that brings brightness and balance of energy.
The meaning of Manipura is essentially making something of yourself, in big or small ways. Bravery is not the absence of fear, after all. It’s being fearful, but not letting that fear stop you from acting! You can be courageous and assertive without being reckless or controlling! It’s all about balance. If you’ve got problems with facing fears start with one tiny thing per day.
Try new food you think you might not like, spark up conversation when waiting in line, speak up in a meeting or class (even just to ask a question!). You’ll find that as these little things add up, you’ll have the confidence to do bigger and bigger things, until your Manipura is thriving!
On the psychic level: it controls the will, the ego, the individuality, the expansiveness, self-control, practical intelligence.
On the physical level: it coordinates the digestive processes and the activity of the organs in the abdomen.
Specific reactions in the case of energetical disturbance: the person in which the energies characteristic to Manipura chakra will strongly struggle for personal power and the recognition of one’s own rights even at the expense of other people’s well-being.
Characteristic element: the subtle energies of fire.
Sense organ: eyes.
Sense: sight.
The person who focuses intensely and meditates on this chakra and offers diligent sadhna (spiritual practice) to Goddess Chandraghanta gains the capacity of discovering secret treasures. The great yogi Swami Shivananda says that “such a person will not be touched by any disease. He or she will not fear fire. Even if such a person stays in the middle of a burning fire, he or she will not die, nor fear death. His or her will and strength will be amazing.”
Offer obeisance to Goddess Chandraghanta on Day 3 of Shrada Navarathri to invoke your willpower as well as the power to withstand the challenges in your path.
GODDESS CHANDRAGHANTA PUJA RITUAL

Aparadha sahasrani kriyanthe aaharnisam maya,
Daso aayamithi maam mathwa kshamaswa parameshwari.
Oh great goddess, I commit thousands of offences routinely, So please think me as your slave and please pardon me.
Aavajanam na janami, na janami visarjanam,
Poojam chaiva na janami, kshamyatham Parameshwari.
I do not how to invoke you, nor do I know how do send you away, and I also do not know how to worship you, and please pardon me.
Manthraheenam, kriyaheenam, Bhakthiheenam, Sureswari,
Yath poojitham maya devi paripoornam thadasthuthe.
I do not know chants or holy action or devotion, Oh God of the devas and so whatever worship I do, please make it complete.
Aaparadha satham kruthwa jagadambethi cho ucharath,

If one calls you, Mother of the universe and commits hundred mistakes, Still you look after his salvation, and this cannot be done by Brahma and other devas.
Saparadhosmi saranam prathasthvam jagadambike,
Idhanee manu kampyoham Yadecchasi thada kuru.
Oh mother of the universe, having committed several mistakes I seek your refuge, and please decide on the fate of this shivering one according to your wishes.
Agnana smrutherbranthya yanyoonam adhikam krutham.
Thath sarva kshamyadham devi praseedha parameshwari.
Oh great goddess I have done all this due to ignorance and wayward thoughts,
And so excuse them all and be pleased with me.
Kameshwari jaganmatha sachidananda vigrahe,

Oh Goddess of love, Oh mother of the world, Oh source of eternal happiness, Please accept my worship and with love become pleased with me.

Oh goddess who is secret of secrets, Please accept the chanting done by me and make me powerful, through your grace, Oh Goddess of the devas.
May you be free from self- doubt and limiting thought patterns. May the great Devi gift you the power to discover your self-worth.
Jai Maa!
